Last weekend the VIB 20% off Sephora sale was going on so I HAD to take advantage. I already knew I wanted a new foundation, something high-end since everything was 20% off, but I wasn't sure of what else I was going to buy. I was thinking about buying more gifts, but I started early this year and already covered my Sephora Christmas shopping. So then I thought about something I wanted when it first came out and heard nothing but good things about.
The Too Faced Chocolate Bar! This palette is so adorable! I love Too Faced! Not only are their products really good, but they have the best packaging, which is always a plus for me. Though this may seem like just another neutral palette, it's not! With 16 matte and shimmer shades, the Chocolate Bar includes colors that are not found in your ordinary neutral palette. The assortment of shades are gorgeous and wearable for daytime and night-time looks. I'm so happy I bought this, I know this eyeshadow palette will get a lot of use with me. Oh and yes, the fact that is smells like cocoa powder makes it extra sweet. :)
The foundation I ended up purchasing was the Make Up For Ever High Definition Foundation in 160 Golden Beige. This foundation is oil-free, medium-to-full coverage with a satin finish. It also claims it creates a soft focus effect to withstand bright or harsh light - so perfect for all these Holiday pictures coming up lol. I'm eager to try this and add it to my never ending journey of finding the right foundation.
So for my ULTA haul, I used a 20% Off One Qualifying Item coupon which made me pleased that I saved some money. I wanted a new brush for my blushes, so I bough the Blush Brush by Real Techniques. I already own a few of their brushes and I really like them, they are really soft, quality brushes with a great price.
The next brush I bought was the Setting Brush by Real Techniques. I never owned a setting brush but I always wanted one. I plan on using it to set my under eye concealer and apply highlighter to my cheeks.
The last item in my haul is an Essie nail polish in the shade Jump In My Jumpsuit, a new color part of their Winter 2014 collection inspired by the most fashionable time of the year. It's a really gorgeous shade of red that reminds me of Santa Clause or Rudolph's bright red nose, so I plan to use this for my Christmas nail designs that I will be posting next month.
Back in September, I picked up the Urban Decay Naked2 Basics palette after having great success with the first Naked Basics. I love all my products by Urban Decay, so I was thrilled when I found out about this new six eyeshadow palette with five never-before-seen shades. It includes everyday cool toned matte neutrals with the exception of Skimp, which is a highlight satin shade.
After trying this palette a few times, I only came up with one look I would wear...but not often. I also had a difficult time building up the pigments on my eyelid (even with a primer).
However, I think this palette is nice for a quick, cool-toned eyeshadow look and will work well with other shadows in your collection. I hope to find more inspiration to use it, but for now the original naked basics is still my favorite.
